GRINDING: The company's main activity is grinding which is achieved by different milling options. ROLLER MILLING is the classic option used to achieve consistency. Multiple shieving results in products with very specific granulation requirements. PIN MILLING offers a reliable method of producing again a consistent product and is used especially where an even-edged particle is preferred. This results in a smoother texture and is used mainly for the manufacturing of Rice Flour. TURBO MILLING produces a rougher product and is preferred when bulk density is important. Generally for smaller micron sizes or where further processing is involved these two methods can be interchanged. All product can be Graded to any desirable size via the use of centrifugal sieves.
HEAT-TREATING:If moisture or micro-biological standards require to be improved a vacuum cooker is used as a method of "dry" cooking with non direct heating agent achieving temperatures in the region of 130 degrees This method ensures beneficial micro-biological results for raw materials used in products such as baby foods, while retaining essential starch levels. Moisture levels are controlled and can reach down to 4%. The products are commonly used where re-hydration is required, for example in instant soups and baby foods or where Viscosity is measured such as for coatings and blends Moisture levels are maintained by the use of polyurethane-coated sacks of various sizes.
PACKING:Our automated packaging machine offers flexibility regarding sizes and materials that can be used to accommodate customers individual needs. Due to the multiple adjustments that can be done we can pack materials varying from grain to flour from 2 to 5 kg. Own label is an option.
Tailor-made produce for the food industry
There are a number of controlled characteristics that contribute to the product versatility and flexibility such as micron size or moisture levels. Other options include processes for improvement in micro-biological levels and monitoring of crops at source offering full trace-ability. All flours are screened, metal detected and micro-biologically tested to ensure full compliance with customer's specifications. They are produced in our premises in Motherwell under strict quality controls (ISO9002 & HACCP). We can also produce a variety of other speciality flours on customer’s request.
We also source within the EU Different grades of SEMOLINA, which is produced by 100% Durum Wheat and, depending on the granulation, amongst other applications can be used in desserts or for the production of fresh pasta.
